PhilHealth, in Partnership with Care Center Clinic, Celebrates Labor Day with ‘YAKAP Para sa Manggagawa’
ALABANG, MUNTINLUPA CITY – Every May 1st, we celebrate Filipino workers who tirelessly earn a living to provide for their families. Whether they have a traditional 9-to-5, shifting-schedule, project-based, or freelance job, every hardworking Filipino deserves to be honored on Labor Day for their efforts and sacrifices.
Health is significant for every hardworking member of the community. When they get sick, it affects their ability to work and support their families. That’s why it’s important that workers also get the attention and care they deserve to stay healthy and strong.
A Day to Embrace Filipino Manggagawa
As a tribute to Filipino workers, PhilHealth, in partnership with the Care Center Clinic, a PhilHealth YAKAP Primary Care Provider, rolled out ‘YAKAP para sa Manggagawa’ on May 1, 2026, at Festival Mall, Alabang. The event focused on raising awareness, improving access, and promoting the utilization of YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) benefits.
The Expo Trade Hall at Festival Mall, Alabang, has been transformed into a YAKAP facility, bringing accessible manggagawa-centered healthcare to the South. The PhilHealth event, hosted by Regina Key Casas & Jericho Dacanay, drew attendees from nearby cities such as Muntinlupa, Cavite, and Laguna.
Our beloved manggagawa were treated to a day dedicated just for them. It was their moment to feel appreciated, as they received free medical consultations from the Care Center Clinic doctors, along with free medicines provided by VidaCure Pharmacy, a GAMOT-accredited pharmacy.
The event was graced by key leaders and partners who showed their support for Filipino workers, including Dr. Bernadette C. Lico, Vice President of PRO NCR and Rizal; Hon. Stephanie G. Teves-Wong, Vice Mayor of Muntinlupa City; Mr. Floyd Paguio, Muntinlupa City Kagawad; Ms. Cheryl Peña, Branch Manager, PRO NCR South; and Mr. Rommel Tabio, Chief Social Insurance Officer – Membership, PRO NCR South.

Commitment to Better Health for Filipinos
The Care Center Clinic reaffirmed its commitment to better health for Filipinos through an engaging community event hosted by Claire Reymundo and Dave Clado.
Filipino workers were pampered through wellness activities like “free gupit” and “free masahe” by livelihood graduates of LGU-Bacoor, Cavite, made possible by Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla and Ms. Lita Gawaran, Livelihood Department Head of LGU-Bacoor.
The audience gained valuable insights from Dr. Kay (Kat) Elequin, who talked about summer skincare and provided free consultations at the Care Center Clinic booth. Physical Therapist Michelle Angela Napa also shared tips on staying healthy and active as you age.
The celebration continued with raffle prizes and gift bags from Unilever and Monde Nissin, along with sponsor booths from Abbott, GenWell, Cherifer, and RadBuster Inc. that provided product samples.
Fun, interactive games added excitement to the event, with winners taking home items from Care Center Clinic and VidaCure. Special dance numbers by adorable mascots, Cherifer’s “Cherifer Boy” and Care Center Clinic’s “OSI” also brought delight to attendees, young and old.
Sustaining Accessible Healthcare for Filipino Workers
The ‘YAKAP para sa Manggagawa’ served as a meaningful reminder that accessible healthcare is a shared responsibility between PhilHealth and communities.
By bringing healthcare services directly to Filipino workers, PhilHealth and the Care Center Clinic emphasized the importance of preventive care and early consultation. The success of the event reflects a continuing commitment to ensure that every Filipino manggagawa is not only recognized for their hard work, but also given the care and support they need to stay healthy and productive.
